Michael ("Mick") Neshem, CISSP, CISA

(Executive Vice President of ESSI)

Michael Neshem is the co-founder and Executive Vice President of Enterprise System Solutions, Incorporated (ESSI), which is a company of leading information security specialists, located in Bellevue, Washington. Neshem co-founded ESSI in 1993, with Jerry Ketterling, who serves as CEO of the company. ESSI is a global pioneer in the development of comprehensive information security solutions that are used by Fortune 1000 companies to protect the enterprise’s critical information contained in their computer networks.
Neshem, a renowned network system architect and his team of information security experts pioneered and developed the use of ENSAS methodology (Enterprise Network Security and Architecture Synthesis), a progressive, holistic approach to enterprise network security, combining five integral elements of secure computing: risk assessment, secure network design, technology integration, education and enterprise network management. Many Fortune 1000 and leading companies utilize ESSI’s Security Architecture to defend their networks and data from unauthorized use, theft or destruction.
Neshem’s abilities as a Network Architect, Security Professional, technical knowledge and ability to explain complex Information Security issues effectively to ESSI’s client base, have been important factors in establishing ESSI as a leading provider of Information Security solutions to the Utilities, Banking, Credit Union, Insurance, Health Care, Shipping and Financial Services Sectors.
Neshem is a recognized expert in the areas of network privacy, information systems and security, auditing, training and education. Neshem’s knowledge of Network Architecture, e-privacy and other Information Security issues has made him a popular speaker. He regularly lectures on topics from Critical Infrastructure Security, SCADA Risks and Security, Information Privacy, secure architecture development, and has presented for such organizations as the Telecommunications Association (TCA), Information Systems Audit and Control (ISACA), International Internal Auditors (IIA) and Western Energy Institute (WEI). Mr. Neshem often assists Internal Auditors with IT audits, and has personally conducted large corporate security audits, providing detailed analysis and recommendations to many Fortune 1000 companies. He frequently teaches classes on Information System Auditing, as well as security related topics, nationwide.
Neshem possesses more than twenty-five years experience in the design and implementation of multi-platform networks. He is the holder of many technical and professional certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and numerous other professional and technical distinctions.
Before establishing ESSI, Neshem was a Senior Systems Architect with Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL), based in Bothell, Washington. There, Neshem designed, implemented and managed ATL’s Global Network Architecture.
Neshem is both a successful technologist and a dedicated scholar of the humanities. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Kirkland, Washington based Northwest College, where Neshem received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Biblical Literature. Michael Neshem, his wife Jill and their five children reside in Kirkland, Washington. Neshem is also a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary under the US Department of Homeland Security in Bellevue, Washington.
