Certified Internal Audit Review Course
Seminar Overview
Lectures and classroom discussions focus on those subjects that are the most difficult to pass in each of the four parts of the exam covered during the course. Over 2,000 pages of comprehensive study materials are provided in preparing for the exam. Additionally, successful test-taking techniques are discussed to increase the probability of the participants successfully passing the exam. The schedule for the four day review course includes: DAY # 1 Test –Taking Techniques leading to possible higher scores on the exam are discussed and demonstrated Part I – The Internal Audit Activity´s Role in Governance, Risk, and Control (topics discussed in class include): Code of Ethics The Professional Standards for the Practice of Internal Auditing (revised and effective January 2002) Audit Process Internal Controls, COSO Focused Risk Assessment Governance DAY # 2 Part II – Conducting the Internal Audit Engagement (topics discussed in class include): Fraud Standards of Audit Evidence Evaluating Audit Evidence Data Gathering Techniques used in collecting audit evidence Auditing Goals & Objectives Audit Reporting Sampling Listening Skills Interviewing Techniques Working Papers Techniques/Standards Communication Skills – written & oral Information Technology "Analytics" DAY # 3 Part III – Business Analysis and Information Technology (topics discussed and tested in class include): Business Processes/Techniques Financial Accounting Finance Managerial/Cost Accounting Information Technology – terminology, controls, testing, systems development, security, segregation of duties, data communications, networks, contingency planning, disaster recovery, documentation, functional groups, hardware, software, databases, etc. DAY # 4 Part IV – Business Management Skills (topics discussed and tested in class include): Strategic Management Global Business Environments Organizational Behavior Management Skills Negotiating The 2,000 pages of study materials provided obviously include subjects in addition to those listed above. One of the primary objectives of the review course is to assist the attendees in understanding the most difficult subjects tested in each of the four parts of the exam. Learning Objectives. Recognize and improve upon knowledge of professional expectations to enhance opportunity of passing the Certified Internal Audit examination. Program Level/Professional Experience - Intermediate . Course is designed for both the experienced internal auditor and those with some experience in internal auditing. Knowledge Requirements. Internal auditors with some practical experience in the internal audit profession and have supervisory experience. Advanced Preparation. None required.
