The internal auditor can use various quantitative methods to analyze the operations for both efficiency and effectiveness and to gain an understanding of the operations.

Also, quantitative methods allow the auditor to draw conclusions about varied populations as well as performing cost-effective audits.

Quantitative methods are additional tools that can be used to answer "what if" questions, assist in the planning process, and analyze data.
