Construction Industry Ratios

· There is a place to go for construction industry ratios, but it is not available on line.

. CFMA (Construction Financial Management Association) publishes an annual Construction Industry Survey. It is very comprehensive, is broken down by type of contractor (e.g., general, electrical, mechanical, etc.) and volume. It is, by far, one of the best if not the best survey available.

. Also, Robert Morris & Associates ("RMA") is another useful source for information.

. Only problem...neither is available on-line. In the case of CFMA, this is a money-maker for them. However, if you can be specific with the information you need, let us know and we may be able to send you some information that applies to the contractor you are reviewing.

. If you, or your client, are interested in ordering a copy of the CFMA survey, you can go to their website at www.cfma.org. The survey book is about 3/4" to 1" thick, and costs around $250. It is published annually.

. RMA is also a comprehensive tool, and can be ordered. Let us know if you need information on ordering it.
